Take your playing to the next level

I’m always on the look-out for new ways to learn repertoire, new ways to motivate myself and you (my wonderfully dedicated students), and new ways to challenge myself. I’ve discovered a couple of engaging and helpful things I’d like to share with you this month. The first is an interactive practice challenge put out by a company and a blog I follow, Musical Collaborations. They are starting — today (March 4, 2019) in fact — what they’re calling the 40-Day Bach Challenge. And, no, you don’t have to be playing Bach to start — and complete — the Challenge. It is designed for any repertoire at any level.
“The 40-Day Bach Challenge is for musicians – professionals, amateurs, and students alike – who wish to boost their musical progress with a community of like-minded learners moving toward personal goals together.” for those of you looking for a totally new way to work toward your repertoire and performance goals this could be for you! Like many of these interactive programs, it is not free, but from what I have seen from this company, I think it would be well-designed and worth your time and resources.Click here for more information.

Three questions – a study technique

WHY?

Three questions per lesson?

Preparing your three questions is a great practice tool.

To create three questions you must be:

 engaged in your practice,

curious about your music, and

ready to make new discoveries.

Make creating three questions for each lesson

new practice habit in 2019!
